Grant M. Hanson launched Tangent Partners on May 1, 2007 to respond to the unmet need for an innovative, performance-based search firm focused in the life science industries.

Grant’s background combines nearly 40 years of professional executive search and life science industry experience. Since March of 2003, he was a Partner in the Healthcare Practice of Battalia Winston International, where he led the pharmaceutical, device and biotech sector from the firm’s New Jersey office.

Prior to joining BWI, Grant was Managing Director of Healthcare Strategies for Boyden Global Executive Search, and provided international leadership for that firm’s strategic expansion in to the Life Sciences. Before his four-year tenure at Boyden, Grant spent five years as Vice President of Healthcare Initiatives for Goodrich & Sherwood Associates in New Jersey and New York, leading the firm’s growth in the consumer and ethical healthcare areas. With more than 25 years of life science consulting and executive search experience, Grant has recruited many key senior executives in the medical devices, pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostic, and consumer package goods sectors.

Before directing his career to the recruiting and consulting field, Grant held senior management positions in several divisions of Johnson & Johnson, specifically Ortho Pharmaceutical (now Ortho McNeil) and Ortho Diagnostic Systems (now Ortho – Clinical Diagnostics), where he managed the therapeutic and diagnostic biochemistry process/product development functions. His expertise spans a wide range of technologies in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical device fields.

Grant holds a MBA in Pharmaceutical Management from Rutgers University, a MS in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis, and a BS in Biochemistry/BA in English dual major from Rutgers University. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, and is certified by the NACD in Director Effectiveness and Board Governance and Accountability.

A native of Illinois, Grant and his family make their home in Summit, New Jersey. His interests include family activities, golf, running, skiing, cooking and cellaring wine.
